About
My name is Xavier, but on the internet I go by Barelyhispanic,
Which is funny. Both of my parents are Puerto Rican, but they’d both tell you my accent needs work. I’m a lens based visual artist and storyteller specializing in photography, cinematography, and storytelling. My work resides on the intersection between my Puerto Rican heritage and Detroit upbringing and is an effort at documenting overlooked people and places in the beautiful way they deserve to be captured. I’ve worked with The Detroit Pistons, The Skillman Foundation, Paxahau, Vmag, Kitkat, Detroit Vs. Everybody, You Matter, and more. And I’m not slowing down anytime soon.
